Paws for thought …
We love to profile businesses and help to share more on what’s happening across Strathspey – so we’re delighted to shine a light on Into the Wild, a dog walking and canine care business that’s been set up by Sharon Davies. We caught up to discover more …
Over the last decade, Sharon has worked in care. After the last couple of years, she “felt like a change“. This month, she has launched her own business – Into the Wild – to provide dog walking and dog sitting services in and around Grantown-on-Spey.
Sharon says: “I have grown up around dogs all my life with my father being a gillie on the Spey as well as training gun dogs.” She adds: “I have a love for the outdoors – and so does my husband. He owns BC Suspension, the bike shop in Grantown.” Together, they enjoy mountain biking, Munro bagging and paddle boarding.
Combining her love of dogs and the great outdoors seemed the perfect choice. “Becoming a dog walker/sitter feels like the ideal job and I am really looking forward to taking my first steps in business with my trusty partner, Orrin, at my side.”
Orrin is Sharon’s dog. They are already picking up business and, as the season gets underway, Sharon’s confident that they’ll be busy in the weeks and months ahead, saying: “I am offering individual and small group walks tailored to your dog’s needs – whether it is an older dog, puppy or an energetic dog who need that bit extra.”
Her dog sitting service is delivered “in the comfort of your own home” to ensure dogs are happy with their surroundings. And through her contacts in the local farming and gillie community, Sharon is also offering Kennel Care for working dogs: “I will walk your dogs, clean the kennels and feed the dogs while you are away.”
Sharon is inspired by living within the Cairngorms “with such beautiful surroundings and my dog Orrin“. She is thrilled to have taken the step to make her dream job become a reality.
With this lead …
One final service that Sharon is offering is aimed at those who are getting married. She explains: “For those getting married, it is a very tough call to either put your dog into the kennel or have someone take care of them away from your big day. So if you are getting married in our neck of the woods and you want your pampered pooch to be looked after on the day, I can be their chaperone at your wedding and ensure your dog can be part of your very special day.”
Finally, we ask all featuring on our Blog what you’d recommend to someone visiting Strathspey for the first time … or for the first time in a long time? “The amazing walks, local businesses and the friendly people who make this town special.” We’d agree … one hundred pawcent!
